World-renowned Russian Physicist Prof. Dr. Sergey G. Chefranov gave a seminar at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Physics. Known for the scientific studies carried out at Russia’s A.M. Obukhov Institute of Atmospheric Physics and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. Chefranov delivered “Generalization of Starobinsky’s R² Theory and the Quasi-Steady Universe” presentation on Thursday, 16 January 2025 at 12:00 p.m., providing insights on the new modellings enhancing Starobinsky’s R² Theory and its the impacts on quantum gravity and cosmology.
The seminar was attended by the Chair of EMU Departments of Physics and Chemistry Prof. Dr. İzzet Sakallı, Vice Chair of Department of Physics Prof. Dr. Seyedhabibollah Mazharimousavi, Distinguished Professor Prof. Dr. Mustafa Halilsoy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Övgün, Assist. Prof. Dr. Huriye Gürsel Mangut, academics from the faculty and the university, undergraduate, master’s and PhD students of the Departments of Physics and Chemistry as well as other EMU students from different departments of the university, and the members of the public.

During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Chefranov, known for his interdisciplinary approach that has introduced new perspectives to the scientific community, garnered significant praise from both academics and students for his groundbreaking insights on how Starobinsky’s theory has influenced the formulation of cosmological equations.
Students asked many questions regarding the innovation views and scientific approaches of Prof. Dr. Chefranov. At the end of the presentation, Prof. Dr. Sakallı presented Prof. Dr. Sergey G. Chefranov a plaque of appreciation, on behalf of EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç.
