Important: Check both your student portal and student email regularly. Many important messages are sent through these channels.

  3. Follow department announcements and semester schedules.
  4. Meet faculty members before choosing your thesis supervisor.

Master’s Program

  • Coursework: 21 credits with at least 7 courses
  • Seminar: PHYS598 or CHEM598 (non-credit)
  • Deadline: Coursework and seminar must be completed within 4 semesters
  • Thesis: PHYS500 or CHEM500 (non-credit)
  • Passing grade: Minimum C in credit courses
  • Register for thesis every semester after thesis topic approval
  • Your thesis topic should be approved by the latest in the 3rd semester

Curriculum: Physics | Chemistry

PhD Program

  • Coursework: 21 credits with at least 7 courses
  • Seminar: PHYS698 or CHEM698
  • Deadline: Coursework and seminar must be completed within 4 semesters
  • Qualifying Exam: PHYS699 or CHEM699
  • Thesis: PHYS600 or CHEM600
  • Passing grade: Minimum B in credit courses
  • Submit the preliminary thesis proposal before the qualifying exam
  • Submit the thesis proposal after the qualifying exam
  • At least 3 Thesis Monitoring Committee reports are required

Supervisor Selection

  • An academic advisor helps you until you choose a thesis supervisor.
  • Master’s students: choose a supervisor by the end of the 1st semester.
  • PhD students: choose a supervisor by the end of the 2nd semester.
  • A co-supervisor may be assigned if needed.
  • Meet available faculty members before making your choice.

Important Rules and Good Practice

Publication Requirement for PhD
At least one SCI or SCI-E indexed journal publication is required, together with additional scientific activity points according to the regulations.
Academic Ethics
Academic misconduct, plagiarism, and cheating are not tolerated. TURNITIN is used for originality checks.
