BS in Physics

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Physics Department of Faculty of Arts&Sciences (FAS) has been founded in 1986. Our education and research processes - currently maintained by qualified academic personnel - are always on the rise in agreement with our level of superiority, defined by our principles. The number of graduates of our Physics department is so far around 70 MS and 20 PhD students. We would like to transfer our outstanding achievement gained in our graduate (MS/PhD) programs to the Bachelor of Science (BS) Physics Program, which was paused in 1998 but is going to be re-activated soon.

EMU-FAS Physics BS program is designed with some flexibility to allow for a variety of career goals, while providing students with a sound foundation in the principles of Physics. The program includes lecture courses in all major fields of Physics (including current research areas) and is sufficiently rigorous to enable graduates to be admitted to top graduate universities/institutes/organizations in Physics.

With a BS degree in Physics, students can pursue careers in research and development, science, engineering, education, medicine, law, business, and the military. In the final year, each student completes an independent project under faculty supervision as part of the capstone experience. The students can also pursue a minor-certificate program or even complete a second major.

Our academical achievements both in national and international scopes, our alumni's successes in academic, research, and other sectors have transformed the “EMU-FAS Physics Department" into a brand and promoted our department as a center of excellence for those who are interested in Physics.

EMU-FAS BS Physics Program is currently accredited by YÖDAK: Higher Council of Education in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

 EMU-FAS BS Physics Program is currently under review of Council of Higher Education (TURKEY) or the so-callled YÖK
